A few stamped cards

I've never really considered myself a stamper but I do like some of the effects.

These pictures show a small book like card that I made for a friend using fairy stamps. I was really pleased with the effect and theres a good chance I'll make another in future!

These heart cards were made using a stamp from the front of a magazine. They were coloured using permanent markers.

This card was made using a Kanban stamp set. The fairy is "flying"on a piece of acetate.

This is one of my favourite stamped cards. The floral heart is stamped onto the card and an extra piece of card with a heart shaped aperture attached to the front. I used the same stamp to create the butterfly and matched it to the image below.

This card was copied from one in a magazine that I really liked.

This card almost made itself! I embossed a piece of light brown card with a brickwork design and cut it out unevenly.  I used 2 stamp sets. One was of the torn back space and the other of the aliens. (The surprise sentiment was in the set with the torn space.) It makes a really good boys card and something a bit different.
I have a friend who works in a laboratory so I bought a small set of stamps with laboratory images. Think it covers everything!

Papercutting

Now and again I like to try my hand at papercutting. Here are a few examples of some of the things I've done:

I took this pattern from Paper Panda and cut it out in white card. I curved the image slightly. I took a white card blank and applied a silver miriboard square to the centre. Then I stuck the papercutting on top so that some of the back of it showed in the  reflection. Finally, I added silver peel offs to the corners to complete the card. Of course you have to make a box for it but after all of the trouble taken with the card I didnt mind!

This time I papercut an image from the net and inked through it in brown. It was mounted onto a piece of brown card and added to a white card blank. I added the greeting and corners using peel offs.

During lockdown in 2020 someone gave me lots of paper cutting patterns and this was one of them. A pretty little pumpkin! I really enjoyed doing it!

Easter inspiration

As there are quite a few cards that I never added to my blog I thought I'd make the next few posts about them.

Here are a few easter cards to start with.

The first is a decoupage paper taken from the "House Mouse" collection. Three little cuties in an Easter basket!

More decoupage designs with cute teddies.

And finally a paper pieced design of a teapot and egg cup.

A shaped card

Although it's not normally used as such, I decided to make this card in the tent style.

I decoupaged the layers and added a Happy Mothers Day greeting. Then I glittered the petals to give them a bit of bling!

Olde worlde

Spurred on by my blackwork card I created this little sweetie from some cross stitch I did a while ago.

I took a 15cm  square card blank and added a 13cm square deckle edged matt . I applied  the cross stitch design  to the centre using a thin layer of PVA  glue. I then created another layer and cut a round aperture in the middle. I past this  layer through a spotty embossing plate then applied it to the card. I cut 2 further circular layers to form a frame for the cross stitch design. I made all of the layers in white to give the card a more olde worlde look.

Blackwork

In Elizabethan times many fabrics were decorated with blackwork. A form of intricate embroidery  Its much easier to do nowadays using fabric for cross stitch.

Although it was quite a fiddly piece I thought this pattern would look nice on a card. I attatched it to a white aperture then created a purple surround with black gems at the corners.

Flippin kids

These two cards are from the "flippin kids" range by La Pashe.

I made my own cards by cutting an aperture into the centre and sticking a slightly larger piece of acetate on top. I added the front of the decoupage to the front and the back inside the card aligning the images. I then added the greetings and a few peel off circles to look like bubbles.

Drawing challenge

My daughter recently suggested that I followed an internet group and did a bit of drawing.

I've not done any for ages so it made a nice change!  The first picture was to be a clematis.

The second picture was a vase

The 3rd was strawberries

A drawing using 1 colour

A plant. ( I chose a bulb that we'd had for our anniversary. Theres no pot or soil. It feeds itself)

A poppy. I wanted to do something a bit different so I chose a blue one!

And trees. Again, I wanted to draw something unusual so I took this from a photo taken at Sutton Park, Sutton Coldfield.
It reminds me of a headless woman striding across the fields...

Although it may be some time before I draw again it was nice to prove that I could still do it!

Little book

I've always liked pop up books and decided  to have a go at one.

I stamped each image in the centre of my book page and cut part of it out ( so that it was still attached at the sides) After I had coloured them, I folded the page in half and pushed the image inwards. Then I added a small text to each page.

I embellished the pages with some die cut daisies and added a few movement lines.

I made a book cover from pieces of card glued to a patterned paper. I mitred the corners and the base of the centre strip. I glued each book page together then stuck the front and back pages to the front and back of the book cover.

Book Cover

I sent the book as a cheering up present to a lady in a home who has been quite isolated because of the corona virus. Hope it made her smile!

Relax

Theres a lot of stress in the world at the moment so I thought this was an ideal birthday card!

It's just some decoupage from the website. It was nice to make something straight forward which was all colour matched for you! The only thing I added was the "happy birthday" greeting.
